When you are tempted to compromise on your values for a quick worldly gain, remember: Kafa billahi shaheeda
(The First Khutbah)

As-salamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh.
My dear brothers and sisters, consider the heavy emotional burden of trying to constantly live for the eyes of the world. We reside in a time where human judgment has become the loudest sound in our ears. People are suffocating under the pressure of trying to prove their innocence, their success, or their worth to others. We stress over how we are perceived by our colleagues, our neighbors, and strangers online. We drain our spiritual energy trying to win the approval of a creation that cannot even control its own heartbeat, while completely neglecting our relationship with the only One who holds our ultimate ledger.
When your main focus is satisfying human beings, your life becomes an endless cycle of anxiety and disappointment. People’s opinions are like shifting sand—they love you today and reject you tomorrow. But Islam came to smash these heavy chains and anchor our souls to an unshakeable, timeless reality: the supreme reality that your Creator sees you, knows you, and is fully aware of your truth.
Turn your hearts to the profound shield of absolute clarity that Allah commands the Prophet ﷺ to declare when facing the intense rejection, slander, and denial of his enemies. Allah says in Surah Al-Ankabut (29:52)
“Say, ‘Sufficient is Allah as a Witness between me and you. He fully knows whatever is in the heavens and the earth. And those who believe in falsehood and disbelieve in Allah, it is they who are the true losers.’”
Look at the liberating power of this opening statement: Kafa billahi shaheeda—"Sufficient is Allah as a Witness."
This single phrase is a declaration of spiritual independence. It means that when you are doing things purely for Allah, the validation of human beings becomes completely irrelevant. When the people of Makkah tried to bury the truth and ruin the Prophet's reputation, Allah did not tell him to argue back with complex political debates. He told him to lift his head high and tell them: Your denial cannot change reality, because the Lord of the universe is my Witness, and His recognition is more than enough for me!
To reinforce this massive foundation of faith, Allah connects this concept to an equally powerful verse in surah Al-Isra (17:96) where He commands the exact same standard of peace:
"Say, 'Sufficient is Allah as a Witness between me and you. Indeed, He is ever, concerning His servants, All-Aware and All-Seeing.'"
Look at the divine attributes used here: Khabeeran Baseera—He is completely aware of your internal thoughts, and He is actively seeing your external actions. If the King of Kings possesses full sight over your secret struggles, why are you still crying over the fact that humans do not appreciate you?
To help everyone sitting here truly comprehend this psychological freedom, let us look at an analogy from our daily experiences. Imagine a brilliant student who spends months studying late into the night for a prestigious, life-changing exam. The local teacher in the classroom dislikes him and maliciously tears up his physical exam paper, telling everyone in the school that the student is a failure who scored a zero. The student is devastated, and his peers start laughing at him.
But right at that moment, the Minister of Education—the highest authority who creates and controls the entire education system—steps into the room. He says to the student: "Do not cry, and do not listen to them. I have a digital backup of your exact answers on my secure master computer. I have personally graded your work, I know you scored the highest marks in the country, and your scholarship is already signed by my hand."
Tell me, does that student care anymore about the teacher's opinion or the laughter of the classroom? Not at all! The weight of his anxiety completely vanishes because the ultimate authority knows his true rank.
My dear congregation, Allah is that supreme authority, and this Dunya is that temporary classroom! Many of us are breaking down because our good deeds are invisible to people. You might be a brother keeping your business strictly halal, turning away from thousands of dollars in bribes while everyone else thinks you are foolish. You might be a sister sacrificing her comfort to care for elderly parents or maintain her modesty, receiving zero gratitude from her family.
To every invisible warrior of faith, Allah is declaring: Kafa billah!—I am your Witness! I see the temptation you conquered when no one was watching. I hear the silent prayers you make in the dark. Your value is sealed in the heavens, so stop looking for applause from the dust of this earth.
(The Second Khutbah)
My dear brothers and sisters, welcome back your hearts to this reminder. We must understand how this deep consciousness of Allah's witness translates into our real, practical lives. This is not just a comforting concept; it is an active standard of absolute accountability.
Listen to this beautiful and authentic Hadith regarding the pure nature of sincerity, where the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ shows us how a heart connected to Allah behaves. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
"There are seven whom Allah will shade on the Day when there is no shade except His... a person who gives charity so secretly that his left hand does not know what his right hand has given, and a person who remembers Allah in private and his eyes overflow with tears." (Sahih al-Bukhari & Sahih Muslim).
SubhanAllah! Think about the psychological state of these individuals. Why did they hide their charity from their own left hand? Why did they cry in total isolation where no human could see them? Because they were living under the profound light of Ash-Shaheed. They did not need a camera, they did not need a social media audience, and they did not need people to call them generous or pious. They knew with absolute certainty that Allah's witness was entirely sufficient for their souls!
But look at the severe warning at the tail end of our primary verse in Surah Al-Ankabut for those who do the exact opposite. Allah warns: Walladhina amanu bil-batili wakafaru billahi ula-ika humul-khasiroon—"And those who believe in falsehood and disbelieve in Allah, it is they who are the true losers."
The true loser is the one who suffers from ultimate spiritual bankruptcy. It is the person who spends their entire life chasing Al-Batil—the falsehood of worldly approval—and completely forgets that their real accounting is with the Creator. They do their good deeds for show, they alter their values to please their friends, and they hide their sins from people while proudly exposing them to the sight of Allah.
Let us fix our hearts today before we exit the doors of this masjid. We must bring Taqwa back into our private spaces. True success is not measured by your status in society or how many people speak well of you. True success is when your hidden life is pure, your intentions are clean, and your soul finds total contentment in the fact that Allah is your Witness.
When you go back to your businesses, your homes, and your daily routines, carry this verse as your ultimate shield. When you are tempted to compromise on your values for a quick worldly gain, remember: Kafa billahi shaheeda—Allah is enough as a Witness. Live for the Audience of One, purify your heart from the prison of people's expectations, and let the unshakeable truth of Islam navigate you safely to His eternal pleasure.
